LONDON September 08. 2024 (Saba)- Chief of the UK Secret Intelligence Service Richard Moore said on Saturday that Hamas is a movement ,an idea and can only be killed by a better idea, considering that the Palestinians need a better alternative.
Moore pointed out that Hamas's military capabilities have been severely degraded, but not eliminated, stressing that the ceasefire is related to the political will of the Israeli and Palestinian sides, according to the Palestinian Ma'an News Agency
In a joint article with CIA Director William Burns, Chief of the UK Secret Intelligence Service said he was working tirelessly to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.
"We are working with Qatar and Egypt on a new and more detailed proposal for a hostage and ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and the new agreement will be presented to Hamas and Israel in the coming days," Burns said.
Burns said he hoped that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar would agree on a deal on prisoners and a ceasefire.
He said that any country with influence over Hamas should push it to accept the ceasefire agreement and end the suffering in Gaza, noting that there is concern among the security services we deal with, including Israel, about conflict expansion possibility.
