GAZA August 31. 2024 (Saba) - Recent reports indicate that a Netzarim checkpoint, a strategic location dividing the Gaza Strip and one of the few areas consistently controlled by the Israeli military, has increasingly been targeted by Palestinian resistance groups.
According to the Hebrew news site "Dafar," the checkpoint has seen intensified activity in recent weeks, with eight Israeli soldiers killed in the vicinity over the past two weeks and a total of 15 fatalities in the last four months.
The checkpoint, which spans approximately six kilometers and is heavily fortified with artillery, observation posts, and various military forces, has become a focal point for Hamas operations.
The group is reported to be using tactics such as setting up ambushes, planting explosives, and emerging from tunnel networks to target Israeli soldiers in the area.
The report notes that while the Israeli military does not maintain a continuous presence throughout most of the Gaza Strip, it operates in specific areas, particularly in Rafah and the central camps, and conducts targeted raids based on intelligence.
