SANA'A August 25. 2024 (Saba) - Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister, Jamal Ahmed Amer, met on Sunday the Resident Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Peter Hawkins.
In the meeting, the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister confirmed the direction of the Government of Change and Construction, based on the leadership directives, to enhance cooperation with the United Nations , its organizations, agencies and programs operating in Yemen, as well as international organizations, and to provide all facilities for their work in light of the approved rules.
He praised the role of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in relation to its work in the health sector, poverty alleviation and other related projects.
He also stressed the importance of the UNICEF office playing its role in reviewing the amounts provided by the cash transfer project, as well as working to update the lists of beneficiaries, approved based on the 2014 lists, trying to raise families' entitlements and accommodate other families.
For his part, Hawkins presented a report on the most important work of the organization in the Republic of Yemen and the humanitarian projects it is working on, especially in the fields of health, education , social protection for children and women.
He stressed that he is seeking during the coming period to urge donors to increase their funding for projects carried out by UNICEF in Yemen.
