GAZA July 20. 2024 (Saba) - The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has welcomed the legal opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which affirmed the illegality of the occupation and the necessity of ending it.
Hamas said in a statement “The Hamas movement welcomes the legal opinion issued by the ICJ, in which it affirmed the illegality of the Zionist occupation and the necessity of putting an end to it. The opinion exposed the fascist settlement system, demanded its end, and highlighted the widespread violations of international law committed by the Zionist enemy governments against our people and our Palestinian land.”
The movement emphasized that this decision “puts the international system before its duty to take immediate action to end the occupation and translate the successive decisions issued by the court into serious steps on the ground. This is especially urgent in light of the ongoing war of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the dangerous settlement expansion in the West Bank, and the frantic Judaization efforts in al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
Hamas called on the United Nations General Assembly and the Security Council to take the necessary measures to end the occupation, especially in light of the entity’s rejection of the court’s decisions and accusations of anti-Semitism.
Hamas pointed out that the ICJ issued several decisions ordering the cessation of actions that lead to genocide in the Gaza Strip and the necessity of facilitating the arrival of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Strip, in addition to stopping the ongoing criminal military operations in the city of Rafah.
The statement added, “The decisions of the ICJ have been ignored by the occupation government, with full support and coverage by the American administration. Zionist positions have repeatedly attacked the court and its decision today.”
Accordingly, Hamas called on the international community to arm itself with these decisions, bypass the American will, and work to force the occupation to implement and comply with them immediately.
