BUDAPEST July 18. 2024 (Saba) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stated that the intensity of the conflict in Ukraine is expected to increase significantly in the near future, as both warring parties intend to continue their military actions.
This statement was made in a letter Orban sent to European Council President Charles Michel, following the results of his "peace mission" in Kiev, Moscow, Beijing, and Washington from July 2 to 11.
In his message, the Hungarian Prime Minister noted, “The general consensus is that the intensity of the military conflict will increase radically in the near future. I have personally witnessed that the warring parties are determined to dive deeper into this conflict, with neither side intending to initiate a ceasefire or peace.”
He further added, “It can be assumed that tensions will not decline and that the parties will not seek a way out of the conflict without tangible external intervention.”
Local media quoted Orban, following his visits to Moscow, Kiev, and Beijing, as saying that the next two months will be the “most dramatic” in Ukraine and that settlement negotiations are likely to begin at the end of the year.
The Hungarian Prime Minister undertook a tour from July 2 to 11, visiting Ukraine, Russia, China, and the United States, as part of what has been described as “Orban’s peace mission between Russia and Ukraine.”
