WHO warns: Gaza people risk famine
WHO warns: Gaza people risk famine
WHO warns: Gaza people risk famine
[Fri, 14 Jun 2024 22:32:38 +0300]

GENEVA June 14. 2024 (Saba) - The World Health Organization on Thursday warned of a serious famine afflicting the residents of Gaza Strip as a result of the Zionist continued siege and its prevention of any aid trucks entering the Strip.

"There is no evidence that humanitarian aid has reached those who urgently need it, and there is an acute shortage of clean water and sanitation," the organization said, according to the Palestine Online website.

WHO director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said a large percentage of Gaza's population faces catastrophic hunger and famine-like conditions, stressing that malnutrition in the Strip killed 32 people, including 28 children under the age of five.

Ghebreyesus noted that despite reports of increased food deliveries, there is no evidence that those who need it most are receiving sufficient food in terms of quantity and quality.

Ghebreyesus pointed out that the West Bank is also witnessing an escalating health crisis, as a result of the Zionist attacks on health care facilities, and the restrictions imposed on the movement of people, which lead to obstructing access to health services.
