MISCOW February 21. 2024 (Saba) - The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Wednesday that "Moscow has not heard of any peaceful initiatives to resolve the Ukraine crisis during the past months."
The Russia Today website quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin as saying: “About twenty countries and regional unions put forward initiatives for a settlement, including China, Brazil, and African countries, and many of the ideas that were presented contained basic agreed-upon points,” noting that new initiatives would have taken shape if Kiev did not reject this in advance.
He continued: "Zelensky's regime has monopolized the right to peaceful initiatives, and is promoting with the United States and NATO countries a miserable formula for a solution, as they actually obstruct the presentation of other viewpoints for a settlement."
President Vladimir Putin recently reiterated that “had it not been for the West’s position, the war would have ended a year and a half ago, and that the Kiev authorities did not want that.”
He said that Russia agreed to the Minsk agreements “because it relied on the integrity of its partners” and “tried to implement them, no matter how difficult it was for both sides,” whether Ukraine or Donbass.
