SANA'A November 07. 2023 (Saba) - The Third National Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition 2023, which was organized over a period of six days by the Ministries of Electricity, Energy and Finance and concluded its work and activities on Thursday, enjoyed wide participation and attendance from the public and private sectors, academics, engineers, specialists and experts in the field of energy from inside and outside Yemen via Zoom technology, in addition to the large presence of audience.

The works and activities of the conference and exhibition represented an image of the Yemenis’ confrontation with the brutal aggression and its unjust siege.

The conference and exhibition demonstrated the ability of the Yemeni person to break the tyranny of aggression and siege that aimed to subjugate and subjugate the Yemenis through many means.

In the field of electricity and energy, the aggression, its tools and its mercenaries deliberately cut off electricity, so the Yemenis resorted to alternative solutions represented in renewable and clean energy, especially solar energy.

The Yemeni News Agency (Saba) was present at the conference and exhibition throughout its six days, and surveyed the opinions of various sectors and segments participating in the exhibition to learn about their impressions.

The Deputy Director of the Distribution and Technical Inspection Sector Affairs at the General Electricity Corporation, Engineer Walid Al-Hamidi, confirmed that the conference and exhibition witnessed the display of the latest devices in the field of solar, renewable and alternative energy, which are characterized by their cheap value and least impact on the environment.

He stated that the most prominent feature of the conference and exhibition was the competition between solar energy companies.

Engineer Al-Hamidi called for serious and continuous work to create comprehensive awareness among citizens and inform them of how to purchase solar panels and batteries of high quality that are durable.

Regarding the scientific aspect, he pointed to the importance of scientific working papers in the conference seminars, as they provided a detailed explanation of the importance of using alternative energy in Yemen.

Regarding the level of demand, the project manager of Al-Nasr Solar Company, agent of Ginko Solar International, Engineer Ahmed Jaafar, confirmed that the demand is very good, especially from companies and factories.

He explained that the largest segment present at the conference and exhibition were specialized engineers who were present in large numbers to learn about the new technology and its developments in order to benefit from it and spread it among consumers.

Regarding achieving the company’s goals at the exhibition, Engineer Jaafar said that his company achieved its goals by more than 80 percent.

Project Manager for Solar Energy Systems, Akram Al-Akwa, described the turnout at the exhibition as “very excellent,” especially the first three days.

He pointed out that specialized engineers are the most likely to attend the exhibition to learn about new technologies, especially since there are new companies and technologies related to transformers.

Al-Akwa explained that the second most present group at the exhibition are factory owners who seek to replace their high-cost diesel generators with solar energy, which can cover consumption costs and the costs of diesel generators and their maintenance within a short period.

He pointed out that his company achieved its goals in participating in the exhibition to a large extent, and also presented a working paper during the conference with the participation of Goat International Company to introduce integrated solutions systems with the latest updates and developments.

The company official appreciated the efforts of the Ministries of Electricity, Energy and Finance in the large equipment that distinguished this edition of the exhibition better than previous exhibitions.

Yasser Abdel Basset, sales director at Asr Al Shams Energy Systems Company, agrees with him, who described the turnout at the exhibition as “very good” and increasing day after day, pointing out that engineers and academics are the most popular and present at exhibition.

He stated that his company achieved its goal of participating in the exhibition, especially with the modern products it offers.

On the educational and academic side, the University of Science and Technology’s participation in the conference and exhibition was prominent, as the university’s media officer, Moin Al-Salami, says that his university’s participation comes from its belief in the importance of this conference and exhibition in the field of renewable energy and its participation in it as an educational and academic institution.

He stressed that the conference and exhibition represent great importance because the world is now moving towards alternative and clean energy, and in Yemen there is a double need for it as a result of the country’s conditions and the blockade.

He pointed out that the university has the first program in renewable energy at the level of Yemeni universities, as a culmination of its work in the field of training, qualification and consultation through the Renewable Energy Center, which has been operating since its founding in 1996 and is managed by the national expert in the field of renewable energy, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Dhabhani.

Regarding the level of demand for the exhibition and the most visited groups, the university’s media officer explains that engineers, specialized students, and farmers are the groups of society most interested in the exhibition.

He noted the conference's seminars, which included scientific and research papers by experts and authorities in the field of solar energy from inside and outside Yemen for the purpose of exchanging knowledge and experiences.

He praised the seminars that were devoted to discussing all requirements related to the solar energy and wind energy sector.

He explained that the costs related to producing electricity from gas and the costs of operating the stations will be lower than other types of fuel, whether through coal or renewable and alternative energy.

Meanwhile, the engineer specializing in the field of energy, Abdel Samad Hadish, considered that the conference and exhibition are an important step on the way to developing the field of work in solar systems.

He called on renewable energy companies and investors in Yemen to develop their capabilities and skills and form companies that provide large sums sufficient to enter into large investment projects costing billions of dollars.

Turning to the opinions and impressions of the conference attendees and visitors to the exhibition, Dr. Mukhtar Al-Sabahi, a faculty member at Ibb University, considered that the conference and the national exhibition constituted a tangible success in promoting renewable energy.

He stressed that what distinguished the exhibition was the large turnout from citizens of all levels and categories, despite their scarce financial capabilities and capacities.
