Foreign Ministry: Meetings of international forums do not reflect reality of aggression, siege on Yemen
Foreign Ministry: Meetings of international forums do not reflect reality of aggression, siege on Yemen
Foreign Ministry: Meetings of international forums do not reflect reality of aggression, siege on Yemen
[25/September/2022]

SANA'A, Sep. 25 (Saba) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that meetings and statements in international forums do not reflect the reality of what was caused by the aggression and siege on Yemen for nearly 8 years and are working to legitimize what the countries of the US-Saudi aggression are doing.

In its response to the joint statement issued by the US State Department on September 22 following the meeting of the group referred to as (P5+4), which included the 5 permanent members of the Security Council with the participation of the Netherlands, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified, that statement came as a review of the reality of events related to the truce that took place recently, in addition to the issue of the Safer tanker.

The ministry pointed out that the statement did not address the reality experienced by Yemeni people with the continuation of the multi-sided aggression and the comprehensive siege imposed on Yemen for 8 years, in light of international silence and complicity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that such meetings and statements serve to legitimize what the aggression countries are doing, which always shirk their responsibility for the results of their aggression and stand idly by in light of deteriorating conditions of Yemen and Yemenis.

The ministry, in its statement, noted that such meetings and statements that complement the aggression countries do not contribute to building real and serious peace steps on the ground or developing actual solutions to the suffering of millions of citizens.

Yemenis who believe that the best that the international community can offer them is announcing and activating the reality of the end of the aggression, lifting siege, stopping the application of Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter on the Republic of Yemen and removing any foreign military presence from Yemeni territory in preparation for the start of real peace steps between Yemenis and with neighboring countries.

The ministry added, "With all appreciation to the countries that are trying to contribute to finding solutions or pushing for advanced steps to end the aggression on Yemen, the time has come to address the aggression countries to end their continuous interference in Yemen's affairs, as well as stop their adventures in the Yemeni islands or the areas of Yemeni economic potential of oil" and gas."

"It is also time for the aggression countries to withdraw from Yemen, stop supporting the militias that created them, and think seriously about making arrangements and treatments for the results and effects of their aggression during the past 8 years, and taking courageous steps by sitting with Sana'a to find bases for building normal and peaceful relations that serve Yemen and its neighbors."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed that Sana'a supports all efforts to deal with the issue of appropriate solutions to pay salaries to civil servants and to engage seriously in effective measures to address economic and financial crises.

In addition to what concerns the Safer tanker, which everyone knows that Sana'a took the initiative years ago in requesting its maintenance in order to anticipate the occurrence of any environmental disaster in the Red Sea.

With regard to the futility of military solutions and resorting to political and diplomatic solutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Supreme Political Council and the National Salvation Government have always addressed the international community with this.

The ministry noted that the reference to military parades in statement was wrong and that Sana'a builds its military capabilities to defend Yemeni lands and borders, and does not target a specific country, and that the army is the People's Protection Army and the Republic of Yemen.

The ministry touched in its statement on a number of aspects of current truce, which expires in early October, explaining that the statement did not refer to the many violations that accompanied it and for which the other party was responsible. That was represented by deliberately detaining oil derivatives ships and not complying with the number of flights and the agreed destinations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded its statement by emphasizing Sana’a’ s interest in finding an appropriate and effective solution regarding the tanker Safer, appreciating the international community’s interaction in this aspect.

Foreign Ministry noted in its statement that Sana'a's firm position to work with humanitarian and development partners to find appropriate solutions and financial and technical support in order to achieve economic recovery, stabilization plans and peace building.
