HODEIDA, Feb. 16 (Saba) - Hodeida acting governor Mohammed Qahim met on Monday in Hodeida province with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) representative in Yemen Hussein Gadain and FAO assistant representative Mohammed Sallam.
In the meeting, Qahim and Gadain discussed the FAO's interventions in the province and the developmental projects in the field of agriculture.
Qahim emphasized the importance of implementing stalled projects through the FAO's serious endeavor in coordination with the relevant authorities.
He praised the FAO's support for many projects some of which require continued support, especially projects that have stopped and require the need to rehabilitate them.
In return, Gadain confirmed that his visit to Hodeida comes to enhance cooperation and partnership with the local authority to implement development projects in the agricultural field.
He discussed with Qahim the stalled projects and ways to find solutions so as to complete them in the coming period, in addition to providing technical support in the agricultural field.
Gadain indicated that the FAO seeks to implement activities and projects in Hodeida and to harness the capabilities and support provided by donors through the centers to assess the food security policies that the province needs.
The FAO representative indicated that the meeting with the local authority in Hodeida comes to consult about addressing the difficulties, identifying the main points, and developing a joint plan to start implementing the projects that the FAO intends to implement, especially in the fields of agricultural and fisheries.
For his part, Sallam stressed that the FAO is focusing on the development of livestock projects during the current period, pointing out the importance of evaluating and supporting information systems through coordination with the Planning Office.
He referred to the establishment of a regional locust control center project and the conduct of surveys of locust movement in Tehama which pose a threat to the agricultural fields in Tehama plain.
