Motherhood, Childhood Slaughtered by US-Saudi aggression … Report of Entesaf Org. for Woman, Child Rights
[19/September/2020]

SANAA, Sep. 19 (Saba) – Entesaf Organization for Woman and Child Rights has launched a report entitled "A motherhood and childhood tragedy slaughtered for 2000 days by the US-Saudi aggression on Yemen."

The report deals with the tragic situation of women and children in Yemen during the two thousand days of the US-Saudi- aggression that launched its raids on March 26, 2015 and its land, sea and air blockade on the country.

The report, Saba got a copy of it, documented the crimes committed by the Aggression coalition against civilians, indicating that the aggression caused the death of 16,978 civilians, including 2,381 women and 3, 790 children, and injured 26, 203 civilians, including 2780 women and 4,089 children.

It touched upon international laws to protect women and children, reviewing the crimes of aggression against women, especially in the southern provinces, which are subject to the most heinous crimes of murder, displacement, impoverishment, violence, kidnapping, and rape.

The report pointed to the catastrophic effects of the aggression in targeting the health sector, which led to the stoppage of 60 percent of hospitals and health centers.

It also indicated that the aggression's targeting of the health sector led to the destruction of 469 health facilities, factories for the manufacture of medicines and two oxygen factories, in addition to the destruction of 97 percent of medical equipment and devices.

The report provided statistics on disease outbreaks due to the aggression, including malnutrition, foetal malformations and abortion, where the rate of malnutrition of children reached 47 percent and acute malnutrition also reached 9 percent.

The aggression caused the spread of cholera, meningitis, diphtheria, dengue fever, and other diseases as a result of their use of internationally banned weapons and bombs and deliberately contaminated water and other means that contributed to the spread of diseases, it continued.

The Organization's report stated that the number of disabled as a result of the aggression airstrikes reached more than 2,181.

It noted that the aggression targeted more than 3,652 schools and educational facilities while many schools were closed because of the damage caused by the airstrikes of the aggression.

The report stated that the aggression targeted all the necessities of life, including service, economic, and infrastructure facilities as it destroyed 565,973 houses and 176 university facilities, and 1,375 mosques over 2,000 days.

According to the report, the Saudi-led aggression warplanes destroyed 365 tourist facilities, 6,732 agricultural fields, 15 airports, 16 ports, 304 stations and electricity generators, 537 networks and communication stations, 2,098 tanks, a water system, and 392 factories.

It addressed the disastrous repercussions of the detention of oil derivatives ships, food and medicine vessels, and the blockade of Sana'a International Airport, which led to the deaths of thousands of patients who were unable to travel for treatment abroad.

The release of the report comes with the passage of 2,000 days of US-Saudi aggression against Yemen and the crimes it committed against humanity against the Yemeni people, said Somaya al-Taefi to Saba, head of the organization.

Al-Taefi noted that the report documented crimes of aggression against women and children over 2,000 days, as well as the human suffering created by the aggression as a result of its criminal practices against the Yemeni people and the destruction of the country's infrastructure and capabilities and the closure of airports and ports of Yemen.

She called on the international community and the United Nations to take responsibility for stopping the aggression, lifting the blockade, and putting pressure on the countries of aggression to allow the entry of oil derivatives ships and not to be exposed to them in the future.
