SANA'A April 24. 2024 (Saba) - The caretaker Prime Minister, Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor, discussed with the government’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Engineer Abdulmalik Al-Thawr, aspects related to the use of pesticides in light of confirmed data showing the local market being flooded with pesticides, especially those that are internationally prohibited.
Dr. Bin Habtoor directed the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation to cooperate with various relevant authorities to develop urgent solutions to ensure that the import of pesticides is not expanded, especially in light of the unprecedented recording of new cancer cases, according to reports from the Cancer Control Center and its branches.
He stressed the responsibility placed on the concerned and relevant authorities, especially the security services, to combat and prevent the entry of smuggled and internationally banned pesticides, which cause huge damage to the soil, environment , human health, to arrest violators and smugglers and refer them to justice.
Dr. Bin Habtoor considered flooding the markets with pesticides as one of the actions that fall within the goals and objectives of the American-Saudi-British aggression coalition, which directly targets Yemeni human life and national security.
