BEIJING April 16, 2024 (Saba) - China issued a new yellow warning regarding severe weather conditions, and expected thunderstorms, as well as hail, in addition to heavy rain in some areas of the country.
The New China News Agency, Xinhua, quoted the Meteorological Center as saying, “From Tuesday morning until tomorrow morning, Wednesday, thunderstorms and hail will sweep parts of Gansu, Anhui, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou and Guangxi.”
The center indicated that heavy rains ranging from 30 mm to more than 70 mm will hit some parts of the country.
The center also advised drivers to “drive with caution due to poor visibility, and to ships to adhere to a safe distance for maritime navigation.”
It is noteworthy that China has a three-color-coded weather warning system regarding severe weather conditions and sandstorms, with orange representing the highest level of warning, followed by yellow, and then blue.
