NEW YORK Apr 17. 2024 (Saba) - The Arab Group in the United Nations late on Tuesday expressed constant support for the Palestine State's claim to full membership in the UN.
This step has been sought for, and had to be taken not only in 2011, but in 1948, the Group said in a statement.
The Group exerts continuous efforts and constructively works with the UN Security Council to meet its responsibilities to maintain international peace and security, and responsibilities for the State and people of Palestine in particular, the statement read.
The Group calls on all the UNSC members to vote in favor of, or at least refrain from curbing, the draft resolution presented by Algeria in support of Palestine right to UN full membership, it added.
UN membership is a decisive step in the right direction towards fair, sustainable solution for the Palestinian Cause in conformity with the international law and UN relevant resolution, the Group argued.
It is time for the Palestinian people to practice their full legitimate rights at global level, as a key step towards the Two-State solution, it said.
