SANAA, July 21 (Saba) - President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, on Saturday expressed his hope that Chine would play an important political role in supporting peace efforts in Yemen.
This came in the president's letter he sent to Chinese President Xi Jinping, in which he hoped that China would exert efforts to stop the aggression, lift the siege on Yemen, and work on the withdrawal of the invading and occupying forces from Yemeni lands, waters and islands.
The president hailed the generous support provided by the People's Republic of China to Yemen and the Arab countries in all fields, lauding China's courageous positions in advocating Arab just issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue.
In his letter, President al-Mashat affirmed Yemen's sincere desire to develop bilateral cooperation relations between the two friendly countries in various fields.
The letter reviewed the nature of the barbaric aggression led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE on Yemen, which has been targeting the Yemeni people since 26 March 2015.
It touched on the Saudi-led coalition's military escalation in the western coast and its ongoing attempts to invade and occupy the city of Hodeidah and its ports, rejecting all the efforts and initiatives adopted by the United Nations.
It also confirmed that Yemen is keen to achieve peace and to spare Yemenis' blood.
