UN Resident Coordinator visits sit-in tent of Displaced
[04/ April/2017]
SANA'A, April 04 (Saba) - The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Yemen Jamie McGoldrick paid on Tuesday a visit to a sit-in tent of the displaced at front of the United Nations Office in the Capital Sana'a.

Mr. McGoldrick was informed by protesters about the difficult living conditions, and the tragic situation of displaced people in particular of the Yemeni people.

McGoldrick said that lifting the blockade would greatly alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and enable the aid provided by the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to reach all areas of Yemen easily and quickly, and will enable the commercial side to overcome its ordeal.

"There is no justification for the blockade imposed on humanitarian aid and commercial shipments coming to Yemen," he said, expressing deep sorrow for the tragic humanitarian situation of the displaced.

McGoldrick said that he would continue to look for possible solutions, pointing out that the need for displaced people outweighs the UN's potential and that numbers of the displaced are increasing as the war does not stop yet.
