SANA'A, Feb. 20, (SABA) - President of the Supreme Political Council (SPC) Saleh al-Sammad received on Monday the Regional Director for the Near & Middle East at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Robert Mardini, and the head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Yemen Alexander Faite.
The meeting reviewed the activities and work of the ICRC in Yemen and its efforts to support the health sector, including hospitals affected by the Saudi-American aggression against Yemen and the unjust blockade on the country for two years.
The President stressed the importance of concerted efforts to address the humanitarian and health catastrophe issue due to the US - Saudi aggression against Yemen, affirming the need to address the two problems ,Yemeni prisoners and detainees outside the war zones, who are exposed to serious violations.
He confirmed that it should be opened an investigation about violations committed by elements of al-Qaeda and Daesh against the prisoners in Aden during the period of occupying Aden by the aggression.
The ICRC regional director said that the committee would expand its activities in Yemen to provide Yemeni humanitarian and health needs, stressing that the ICRC has made efforts to address the situation of prisoners and what can be done by the future .
The regional director expressed his appreciation for the attention of international humanitarian law, affirming that everyone works should to be respected and implemented in different conditions and environments.
