HODEIDA, Jan. 10 (Saba) – Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Ghazi Mohsen met on Tuesday with the technical team of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Hodeida province, headed by the international expert al-Shadheli al-Kailoli.
The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation and coordination to support the implementation of a number of agricultural activities so as to provide farmers' needs and requirements of food security as well as the implementation of the improvement of the living conditions of farm families to maintain programs.
The meeting dealt with the aspects of the coordination between the FAO Office and the General Authority of Improving Tehama in a number of agricultural programs and activities, including providing good breeds of livestock and seeds of food grains in order to enhance and improve agricultural production.
It has been agreed to fund training courses for a number of agronomists to train them at the Public Authority for Agricultural Research to serve the goals and programs of food security.
The minister of Agriculture and Irrigation pointed to the importance of strengthening the aspects of cooperation and coordination between the relevant authorities in order to serve the needs and requirements of food security and improve the living sources of income for farmers especially in light of the crisis in the country.
He pointed out that providing good breeds of livestock, as well as providing goods seeds of various food grains are one of the leading contributing factors to alleviate the suffering of rural households that depend on livestock as their primary source of income.
