The Muscat Stock Exchange’s main index last week recorded its highest level in 29 months amid strong buying by local funds, investment institutions, and Omani investors.
According to the Oman News Agency, the main index gained 68 points to close at 4,849 points — its best performance since 30 March 2023.
Sector indices all posted gains, led by the Industrial Sector Index, which rose 150 points. The Services Sector Index added 28 points, the Financial Sector Index rose 18 points, and the Sharia Index gained 3 points to close at 469 points.
The rally was driven by strong demand for several leading stocks, which continued their upward momentum last week, securing fresh gains that lifted overall market performance. Weekly trading value reached 129.8 million Omani rials — up 31.3% from the previous week’s 98.8 million rials — while the number of executed transactions grew by 3%, from 10,384 to over 10,700.
The market capitalization of listed securities rose by 269 million rials last week, ending Thursday’s session at 29.402 billion rials.
During the week, prices increased for 42 securities, declined for 21, and remained unchanged for 29.
