Palestinian Report: Airdrops in Gaza turn into deadly danger instead of relief
[08/ August/2025]
Gaza - Saba:

Airdrops of aid over the Gaza Strip have become a threat to civilian lives, resulting in the deaths and injuries of several civilians, including children and women, as a result of the random drop of parcels on the tents and dilapidated homes of displaced people.

A report published by the Palestinian Shehab News Agency indicated that the "media spectacle" of these drops, carried out by aircraft from Arab and foreign countries, does not satisfy the hunger of the hungry, but rather increases their suffering, amid accusations that the Israeli entity is turning aid into a means of organized humiliation.

Shehab News Agency reported shocking testimonies from Gazans who lost relatives or were injured due to the dropped parcels, as well as accusations of the formation of gangs that steal the aid immediately after it is dropped, and the continued famine in light of the enemy's deliberate obstruction of the entry of land trucks.

The report also cited strong criticism from UNRWA, Oxfam, and the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor of the airdrop mechanism, describing it as a "humanitarian illusion" that will not end the catastrophe in Gaza, where more than one million displaced people have been living under conditions of famine and continuous bombardment since October 2023.

This comes at a time when more than one million displaced people are facing catastrophic humanitarian conditions amid the ongoing Israeli aggression and blockade on the Strip. Estimates indicate that more than 204,000 people have been killed and wounded since October 2023.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been facing an unprecedented wave of hunger since Israel closed the Strip's crossings in early March and imposed severe restrictions on the entry of food, relief aid, fuel, and medicine.

Over time, Gaza's residents have exhausted all food supplies, shops have become empty, finding a loaf of bread has become almost impossible, and available goods have seen skyrocketing prices. Starvation has become one of the most devastating causes of death in the Strip.
