Spanish football club Villarreal announced on Thursday the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey following the expiration of his contract with English side Arsenal.
Partey, 32, became a free agent after his contract with Arsenal ended in June. Villarreal have now secured his services ahead of the new La Liga season.
In a statement published on their official website, the club praised Partey’s technical and physical abilities, highlighting his strength in one-on-one duels and his ability to advance from deep midfield positions.
The experienced Ghana international has earned over 50 caps for his national team and previously played for Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, Almería, and Real Mallorca.
During his career, Partey won the FA Community Shield with Arsenal in the 2023/2024 season, and while at Atlético Madrid, he claimed the La Liga title in 2020/2021, the UEFA Super Cup in 2018/2019, and the UEFA Europa League in 2017/2018.
