Taiz – SABA:

Deputy Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water, Adel Badr, conducted a field visit today to inspect the well sites in the Habir–Al-Hayma fields that supply Taiz city, ahead of rehabilitation work set to begin on wells operated by the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation.

He was accompanied by Assistant Commander of the Fourth Military Region, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Al-Khalid, and Provincial Mobilization Official Mohammed Al-Khalidi. They were briefed by Engineer Amin Al-Maghlas, Director of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, on plans to rehabilitate all 13 wells and equip them with solar energy systems, aiming to improve water services for residents in the coverage areas.

During a meeting chaired by the Deputy Minister and attended by the Corporation’s leadership, urgent institutional needs and technical challenges were discussed. The meeting focused on addressing unauthorized connections to water lines, which impact service delivery, and emphasized the role of security forces in holding violators accountable.

The discussions also touched on the possibility of supporting the Taiz Water Corporation with technical, financial, and administrative expertise from other institutions, alongside training and capacity-building for current staff.

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to meeting the corporation’s needs to enhance service delivery in water and sanitation. He said the visit aligns with the Revolutionary Leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the Change and Development Government’s agenda to improve public services across all sectors, including access to clean water and upgraded sewage systems.

Engineer Al-Maghlas presented the corporation’s needs and ongoing challenges, praising the ministry’s support through the provision of office equipment and systems. He also outlined the obstacles hindering operational performance and potential solutions to overcome them.
