A total of 405 surgical operations were conducted during the 67th free eye surgery camp organized by the Health Care Association for Affected Communities at Al-Jirahi Hospital in Hodeidah province, funded by the General Authority for Zakat.
Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, head of the association, told the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) that the surgeries included 388 cataract operations, 14 pterygium removals, and three other procedures.
He noted that the 10-day camp, implemented in cooperation with the governorate’s health office, aimed to alleviate the suffering of patients from poor families, providing services to 1,174 cases.
Dr. Al-Attab emphasized that the camp was part of efforts to promote social solidarity and support for the most impoverished and vulnerable groups. He praised the humanitarian role of the General Authority for Zakat and its support for the medical camp.
