French club Olympique Lyonnais announced on Friday that it has extended the contract of Argentine full-back Nicolás Tagliafico until 2027.
In a statement on its official website, the club said the contract renewal for the 32-year-old defender aims to strengthen the squad ahead of the new Ligue 1 season, as Lyon looks to improve its position in the league standings.
Tagliafico made 39 appearances for Lyon last season—24 in Ligue 1 and 9 in the UEFA Europa League—scoring 5 goals. He also played a key role in Argentina’s FIFA World Cup victory in Qatar in 2022 and helped the national team win the Copa América twice, in 2021 and 2024.
Lyon finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season with 57 points and is aiming for stronger results in the upcoming campaign.
