Washington - Saba:
Ninety-three Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives called on Secretary of State Marco Rubio to open an urgent investigation into the structure and operations of the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” which currently manages aid distribution sites in the Gaza Strip.
In an official letter, they expressed deep concern that the foundation may become the main or sole entity responsible for delivering aid, despite lacking the necessary competence and experience.
They stressed that delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians in a safe and effective manner is both a moral obligation and essential for the security of “Israel,” as well as for making progress on the detainees’ issue.
The lawmakers strongly criticized what they described as a lack of transparency and oversight regarding the foundation, pointing out that the adopted distribution model, based on access priority, has caused chaos and resulted in casualties.
They demanded disclosure of the foundation’s funding sources and details of its contracts with security firms and aid suppliers.
