Stockholm – Saba:
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on Thursday described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “extremely horrific,” criticizing the Israeli entity for failing to meet its international obligations to facilitate urgent aid access.
In a press statement, Kristersson called on the European Union to immediately suspend the trade component of its partnership agreement with "Israel".
He stressed that it is time to apply economic pressure to compel the Israeli government to allow unhindered humanitarian relief into Gaza.
His remarks come amid growing international criticism of Israel’s ongoing restrictions on aid delivery, with UN agencies warning of worsening famine and humanitarian catastrophe.
Currently, 900,000 children in Gaza are facing hunger, including 70,000 suffering from malnutrition. Hospitals continue to receive severe cases daily.
Backed by U.S. and European support, the Israeli military has waged a genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, killing 60,249 Palestinians—mostly women and children—and injuring over 147,000, with thousands still buried under rubble or lying in streets beyond the reach of rescue teams.
