Argentine Lionel Messi provided two assists, including one in the dying seconds of the match, to help his American football team, Inter Miami, to a 2-1 victory over Atlas in their Leagues Cup opener.
This was Messi's first match since being suspended by MLS for the game, along with teammate Jordi Alba, after missing the All-Star Game.
Messi assisted Marcelo Wiegandt's winning goal in the final minute of stoppage time.
Messi then provided another assist for Telasco Segovia, who scored the opening goal in the 58th minute.
Rivaldo Lozano equalized for Atlas in the 82nd minute, before Wiegandt scored his own goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time. The goal was awarded after a VAR review, as the goal had originally been ruled offside.
Messi won the MLS Player of the Month award for this month after scoring eight goals, helping Inter Miami win four matches and draw one, while losing only one.
The match saw Argentine Rodrigo De Paul make his debut for Inter Miami.
