Tehran - Saba:

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei strongly condemned on Thursday the US imposition of new sanctions on a group of individuals, legal entities, and vessels linked to Iran's energy and oil sectors.

Baqaei recalled the recent military aggression by the US and the Zionist regime against Iran's territorial integrity and national sovereignty, and described the imposition of illegal and unjust sanctions on the country as clear evidence of the hostility of US decision-makers toward Iranians, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA.

He added: "The Iranian people, aware of the malicious intentions of these aggressive sanctions, which aim only to weaken Iran and violate the fundamental rights of every Iranian, will stand with all their might to protect their dignity and interests."

The spokesman emphasized that America's addiction to unilateralism and illegal and coercive means to achieve its illegitimate goals at the international level, and its relentless disregard for the rule of law and human rights, have made a mockery of the fundamental foundations of international law, including the principle of respect for the sovereignty of states. and freedom of trade between countries, and exposed the world to unprecedented threats.

Baqaei described the new US sanctions on Iranian oil trade as a malicious move aimed at harming the economic development and well-being of the Iranian people. He said, "The unilateral and illegal US sanctions on Iran are a criminal act that violates the basic principles and rules of international law and human rights, and constitute an example of a crime against humanity. The US government must be held accountable for the gross human rights violations resulting from these illegal sanctions."

He recalled the crimes committed by the US against the Iranian people over the past seven decades, from coups and sabotage to sanctions, economic terrorism, and war, stressing that sanctions and threats cannot undermine the will of the great Iranian people to achieve their lofty goals of protecting national sovereignty and building the homeland.
