During his meeting with the Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority, Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi, and the Authority's leadership, Minister of Finance Abdul Jabbar Ahmed emphasized the importance of building a true partnership between the Tax and Customs Administration and taxpayers.
He pointed out that merging the two authorities is a strategic step to unify and simplify procedures after studying successful international experiences.
The Minister explained that the new structure will take into account similar and specialized functions within unified sectors, while enhancing the Authority's service-oriented nature as it engages with a broad segment of the public. He also emphasized that the Authority will be an effective tool for implementing economic policies and supporting sustainable development, calling for teamwork and organizing workshops to improve performance.
For his part, Dr. Mahdi affirmed the Authority's commitment to implementing the Minister's directives and developing work mechanisms to achieve its set goals.
