A joint meeting was held in the capital Sana'a on Wednesday to discuss coordination between the Ministries of Electricity, Energy and Water, and the Ministry of Interior regarding the implementation of water and electricity projects and the facilitation of related security procedures.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Minister of Electricity and Water Adel Bader and Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulmajid Al-Murtadha, reviewed the Ministry of Interior’s debts to the Electricity Corporation and explored appropriate solutions.
Also in attendance were Abdulghani al-Madani, Chairman of the General Corporation for Electrical Industries; Dr. Mishaal Al-Raifi, Director General of the Electricity Corporation; Eng. Waleed Al-Mutawakkil, Director of the Capital Electricity Zone; and Eng. Yahya Al-Sarraji, Director of the Second Electricity Zone in the capital.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the ministries and security agencies to control violations by private power stations charging above the approved tariffs and to protect water and electricity infrastructure from sabotage or encroachment.
Deputy Minister Adel Bader emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination with the Interior Ministry to safeguard public properties, particularly water and electricity projects, and to address violations.
He noted the ministry’s readiness to submit feasibility studies for a proposed electricity station with a 2.5 MW capacity to serve the Ministry of Interior and its sectors. The study will be referred to the Cabinet for review and necessary action.
Bader praised the Interior Ministry for its support in curbing violations against electricity and water networks and commended the Civil Defense Authority’s role in extinguishing fires caused by the Israeli-American aggression targeting power plants.
For his part, Deputy Interior Minister Al-Murtadha expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Electricity’s understanding of the Interior Ministry’s electricity and water needs, as well as its cooperation on addressing outstanding debts.
He confirmed the Interior Ministry’s willingness to coordinate with the Electricity Ministry to ensure the protection of pumping lines and infrastructure for water projects, stressing the shared responsibility to safeguard public and private property.
