Sumoud coalition prepares boat convoy to Gaza

Gaza - Saba:

The "Sumoud" coalition is preparing to launch one of the largest civilian naval convoys to the Gaza Strip, with the participation of boats from approximately 39 countries, in a large-scale civil movement of a symbolic and humanitarian nature.

This civil movement aims to denounce the "silence of governments" regarding what is happening in Gaza and to demand an end to the genocide and the entry of aid into the Strip.

According to Al Jazeera Net, activists from the United States are participating in the preparations and coordination for the dispatch of two boats flying the American flag. They are expected to set sail from locations in the Mediterranean Sea, as part of the global coordination of the "Sumoud" convoy.

Organizers hope that this American participation will be symbolic, expressing American popular anger at their government's official support for the blockade and genocidal policies in Gaza.

The Sumoud coalition, which is coordinating this move internationally, comes after the failure of the "Global March to Gaza" last June. This previous attempt sought to reach the Strip by land via Egypt, with the participation of hundreds of people from 80 countries.

The organizers of the Sumoud are counting on the growing international momentum amid the ongoing massacres in Gaza, and they hope that participation will reach approximately 50 civilian ships, departing from various ports and arriving simultaneously off the coast of Gaza.

Despite repeated Israeli threats not to allow any boats to reach Gaza's shores, the campaign organizers emphasize that these boats—even if intercepted—carry political and humanitarian messages that cannot be withheld.

They are also counting on popular pressure in Western countries and broader media coverage than that which accompanied previous boats, especially after the international attention generated by the Handala and Madeleine ships.
