Seoul - Saba:
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stated on Sunday that his country will achieve victory in battles "against imperialism and against the United States."
Western media reported on Sunday morning that Kim Jong Un's statements came during the country's commemoration of the armistice in the Korean War.A Western newspaper quoted Kim Jong-un as saying, "Our country and its people will surely achieve the great cause of building a prosperous country with a strong army, and will achieve honorable victories in the confrontation against imperialism and the United States."
For its part, the official Korean Central News Agency reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited memorials honoring veterans of the Korean War, which took place between 1950 and 1953.
Jong-un visited the Friendship Tower, which commemorates Chinese People's Liberation Army soldiers who fought with North Koreans, and the North Korean leader met with soldiers at an artillery regiment to mark the occasion.
It is noteworthy that North Korea signed an armistice agreement with the United States and China on July 27, 1953, which ended the fighting in the three-year war.
The agreement was signed by American generals representing the United Nations forces that supported South Korea.North Korea calls July 27 "Victory Day," even though the armistice established a border that divided the Korean Peninsula roughly equally and restored balance after the two sides traded advances and retreats on the battlefield.
