Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced that Hungary has been calling for a ceasefire and negotiations in Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict, and that many other countries now agree with this position.
Sputnik quoted Szijjártó as saying in remarks at the United Nations: "Hungary has always supported a ceasefire and peace negotiations from the beginning."
He added: "We have been severely criticized for this position on numerous occasions, but now everyone is speaking in favor of a ceasefire and peace talks."The Hungarian diplomat emphasized, "This shows that we, the Hungarians, were right to demand these things at the beginning of the war as well."
He pointed out that Central Europe would benefit from a "civilized relationship" between Russia and the United States.
Yesterday, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that his country is the only NATO member state that has neither supplied weapons to Ukraine nor provided funding for these shipments.
Szijjarto told Sputnik, "Hungary is the only NATO member state that has never supplied any weapons to Ukraine, nor contributed financially to any arms shipments, and we certainly do not intend to change this position."
