Tunisia - Saba:

Hundreds of Tunisians participated in the "Siege of the US Embassy" event in the capital, Tunis, to protest Washington's support for the Zionist enemy in its genocide in the Gaza Strip for nearly two years.

The "Siege of the US Embassy" began yesterday evening, Saturday, following a call from the "Joint Action Coordination for Palestine" and the "Tunisian Network to Confront the Normalization System." According to the organizers, the siege will continue for more than a day.

Ghassan al-Hanshiri, a member of the "Joint Action Coordination for Palestine," said, "We called today for a siege of the US embassy because the killing and starvation of Palestinians inside Gaza has become unbearable."

Al-Hanshiri added to Anadolu Agency, "We know that the official partner and supporter of this entity is the American enemy. That is why we have resorted to besieging the embassy until the siege on our brothers in Gaza is lifted."He continued, "All the emotions we feel after watching the scenes coming out of Gaza compel us to go out in front of the embassy of the enemies who support the Zionist enemy and besiege it."

Al-Hanshiri confirmed that "the embassy siege will continue for the maximum possible number of days (he did not specify how many). We will continue at least until humanitarian aid enters Gaza."For his part, Wael Nawar, spokesman for the Steadfastness Convoy and a member of the coordination committee, told Anadolu Agency: "The siege of the US embassy has just begun."

He stressed that "the demands of the sit-in in front of the embassy are clear and are directed directly at the United States: stopping the genocide and opening the crossings. We know that the solution to this issue lies in the hands of US President Donald Trump."

Nawar added: "We demand that the Tunisian authorities close the US embassy, expel its ambassador (Bill Bazzi), and halt joint military operations with the US army until Washington stops supporting the genocide."

He concluded, "This movement is primarily a show of support for our people in Gaza and for the resistance, and we will not accept leaving the streets as long as the genocide continues."

During the event, the demonstrators banged empty pots, symbolizing the famine suffered by the Palestinians of Gaza, and placed models of children killed in Gaza as a result of the Israeli aggression on the road in front of the embassy.

They raised slogans denouncing US support for the genocide, most notably: "The Zionists and Americans are partners in the aggression" and "One demand."Calls for the masses to close the embassy and expel the ambassador, and for "the crime to be Zionist and the missile to be American."

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy forces have been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop.
