Families of Israeli captives accuse Netanyahu’s government of exploiting their cause

Gaza – Saba:
Families of Israeli captives held in the Gaza Strip accused the government of war criminal and International Criminal Court fugitive Benjamin Netanyahu of exploiting the plight of their loved ones for political gain.

In a statement issued Saturday, the families renewed their call on the Israeli regime to reach a comprehensive agreement that would bring their relatives home from Gaza.

“The government told us that military pressure would bring the captives back, but the opposite has happened. This approach has led to the killing of some of them,” the families stated, stressing that “time is running out, and our children are in danger.”

“We are tired of this endless war. We want the captives to return home, and we want the suffering to stop immediately,” they added.

The families also addressed the U.S. administration, saying: “We tell the American government that our children are dying, while Netanyahu continues to stall.” They urged former President Donald Trump to intervene immediately and pressure Netanyahu to reach a comprehensive agreement to end the war and secure the captives’ release.

Earlier today, Hamas responded to remarks by Donald Trump and his Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, who claimed that the movement had rejected a ceasefire deal in Gaza. Hamas said the statements contradicted the assessments of mediators and did not reflect the actual progress being made in negotiations.

In a statement, senior Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq clarified that “the comments by Trump and Witkoff came at a time when mediating parties—particularly Qatar and Egypt—were expressing satisfaction and appreciation for our serious and constructive stance.”

He stressed that the U.S. statements “ignore the real obstacle to any agreement—Netanyahu’s government, which continues to impose hurdles, evade commitments, and obstruct progress.”

Al-Risheq called on the U.S. administration to stop “absolving the Zionist enemy and providing it with political and military cover to continue its genocidal crimes and starvation policies against more than two million people in the Gaza Strip.”
