The Boycott Department of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) hailed the bold decision announced by Colombian President Gustavo Petro to ban the export of Colombian coal to the enemy state of Israel, in response to the ongoing massacres and genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The Front said in a press statement, received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), on Saturday: President Petro's order to the Colombian armed forces to intercept any ship carrying coal bound for the occupying entity represents a lofty moral and humanitarian stance.
It reflects Colombia's commitment, both its people and its leadership, to standing by the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and refusing to be complicit in the war crimes committed daily against children, women, and defenseless civilians in Gaza.
The Boycott Circle emphasized that "this step constitutes a model of struggle that should be emulated in Latin American countries and the world, especially in light of the escalating popular and international calls to impose sanctions on the enemy and to boycott it politically, economically, academically, and culturally until its occupation ends and our people's rights to freedom, return, and self-determination are met."
The Circle called for intensified pressure on governments and institutions around the world to cease all forms of cooperation with the enemy state, particularly in the areas of energy, armaments, and trade, and to work to hold it accountable in international forums as a war criminal committing genocide in broad daylight.
