China's fiscal spending rose 3.4% year-on-year to nearly 14.13 trillion yuan (about 1.98 trillion U.S. dollars) in the first half of 2025.
Official data released by the Chinese Ministry of Finance on Friday showed that fiscal departments at all levels continued to boost spending in key areas. Fiscal spending on social security and employment increased 9.2% year-on-year between January and June.
During the first six months, fiscal spending on science and technology rose 9.1% year-on-year, while spending on education and health increased 5.9% and 4.3%, respectively.
China's fiscal revenue declined 0.3% year-on-year to approximately 11.56 trillion yuan in the first half of this year.
China's central government collected nearly 4.86 trillion yuan in fiscal revenue, down 2.8% year-on-year, while local governments collected nearly 6.7 trillion yuan, up 1.6% year-on-year.
