Qatar & Egypt warn against leaks undermining Gaza ceasefire negotiations
[25/ July/2025]
Doha – Saba:
Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt called on Friday against heeding leaks circulated by some media outlets in attempts to undermine efforts and influence the course of negotiations to halt the war on the Gaza Strip.

In a joint statement, the two nations stressed that these leaks do not reflect reality and originate from parties uninformed about the negotiation process.

They reaffirmed their relentless mediation efforts in Gaza to reach an agreement that ends the war, alleviates the humanitarian suffering in the Strip, ensures the protection of civilians, and facilitates a prisoner exchange.

The statement noted some progress in the latest intensive round of negotiations, which lasted three weeks, emphasizing that pausing talks for consultations before resuming dialogue is a normal part of such complex negotiations.

Egypt and Qatar urged international media to act responsibly, adhere to journalistic ethics, and highlight the unprecedented suffering in Gaza rather than undermining efforts to end the war.

They reiterated their commitment, alongside the United States, to continue efforts toward reaching a comprehensive ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has continued to commit genocidal crimes in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 59,676 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, and the injury of 143,498 others—a non-final toll, as thousands remain trapped under rubble or in inaccessible areas, beyond the reach of rescue teams.
