Geneva – SABA:
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) stated on Friday that Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon of war in the Gaza Strip has reached unprecedented levels.
In a statement, the organization said that a quarter of the children and pregnant women visiting its clinics in Gaza are suffering from starvation and malnutrition.
According to the official Palestinian news agency (WAFA), 25% of children aged 6 months to 5 years, along with pregnant and breastfeeding women, who sought medical care at MSF clinics last week, were found to be malnourished and starving.
MSF noted that both patients and healthcare workers in Gaza are suffering from hunger.
“This is the first time we have witnessed malnutrition on such a dangerous scale in Gaza,” the statement read. “The starvation of people in Gaza is deliberate, and it could end tomorrow if Israeli authorities allowed large-scale food entry.”
The organization further declared:
“This is a deliberate famine caused by Israeli authorities as part of an ongoing campaign of genocide. The starvation, killing, and injuring of those desperately trying to access aid is unacceptable.”
