Libyan Parliament Demands Urgent, Firm International Position Against Starvation in Gaza
[25/ July/2025]

Tripoli - Saba:

The Libyan House of Representatives called on the international community on Thursday evening to take a firm and urgent stance, avoiding double standards and shameful silence regarding the ongoing Zionist blockade of the Gaza Strip, including the systematic Israeli denial of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid to millions of civilians.

In a statement, the House of Representatives said it is "following with deep concern and sorrow the severe humanitarian catastrophe being experienced by the Palestinian people in Gaza, which has reached the level of mass famine as a result of the unjust blockade and ongoing aggression, in clear violation of all international and humanitarian norms and conventions."

The House considered the systematic denial of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid, as well as the deliberate deprivation of millions of civilians of their most basic rights, to be a "crime against humanity."

It stressed that this requires a "firm and urgent stance from the international community, avoiding double standards and shameful silence," according to the statement.

The Council expressed its "full solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza," calling on "the international community, with all its bodies, especially the Security Council and the United Nations, to immediately cease the war."

The Libyan representatives stressed the "need to take binding measures to lift the unjust blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip and allow the unconditional entry of humanitarian aid."

They also called on "Arab, Islamic, and international parliaments to take bolder and clearer positions that befit the magnitude of the catastrophe facing a defenseless people."

They called on "the free people of the world to take urgent action to provide relief to the victims, expose the crimes of the Zionist enemy, and expose the suspicious international silence."

The Libyan representatives concluded their statement by saying that "the continuation of the blockade and famine in Gaza will not be destined for eternal silence. The voice of humanity and justice will remain louder than the machine of starvation and killing. The world must choose between standing with humanity or complicity in this crime."

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy forces have been committing a crime of genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the operation.
