Wolverhampton Wanderers announced on Thursday the signing of Colombian footballer John Arias from Brazilian club Fluminense.
The club stated on its official website that Arias, 27, will join Wolverhampton on a four-year contract with an option for a further year.
Arias began his career in Colombia, making his first-team debut on loan at Llaneros in the second division. After playing 35 matches in the 2018 season, he returned to his former club, Patriotas, in the first division.
He continued his career with a permanent move to América de Cali, where he won the Colombian league title. Just one year later, he moved to Santa Fe, where he performed exceptionally well. Just seven months later, he was given the opportunity to move abroad, joining Brazilian club Fluminense.
The Colombian player became a key member of the Brazilian team that won the Copa Libertadores and was also part of the squad that participated in the Club World Cup in the USA last month.
At the international level, Arias has made 31 appearances and scored three goals for Colombia.
It is worth noting that Wolverhampton finished 16th in the English Premier League last season with 42 points.
