The director of the almaemadani Hospital in Gaza City, Fadel Naim, revealed the harsh conditions under which the medical staff work, noting that the doctors are "starving and deprived of food, sleep, and rest" amid the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Naim said in press statements on Tuesday that the doctors continue to perform their humanitarian duty despite their physical and psychological collapse, stressing that many of them work long hours without eating or resting, in a desperate attempt to save the lives of the wounded and injured.
The health sector in Gaza is suffering from an unprecedented collapse as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression for months, with dozens of hospitals out of service due to direct bombing or depletion of fuel and medicine.
The few remaining health facilities, such as the almaemadani Hospital, are operating beyond their capacity, amid a severe shortage of medical personnel and basic supplies, forcing medical staff to face harsh, life-threatening conditions while trying to save others. The residents of the Gaza Strip have been facing a wave of hunger since the enemy closed the Gaza crossings in early March, imposing severe restrictions on the entry of food, relief aid, fuel, and medicine into the Strip. This is part of a genocidal crime that has been ongoing for 21 months.
