Gaza - Saba:
The World Food Programme confirmed that the hunger crisis in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels, with one in every three residents of the Gaza Strip going days without eating.
In a statement, the program said that crowds waiting for aid in Gaza are being fired upon by Israeli tanks, snipers, and other sources, despite doing nothing but trying to obtain food while on the brink of starvation.
The statement stressed that people in Gaza are dying due to the lack of aid and called on the international community and all parties to facilitate the delivery of food assistance to the starving population in the Strip.
The WFP considered the shooting of aid seekers on Sunday a reflection of the dangerous conditions surrounding humanitarian work in Gaza.
It noted that a convoy of 25 food aid trucks crossed through the Zikim crossing into northern Gaza on Sunday, but was met by large crowds of civilians seeking aid, who were then fired upon, resulting in deaths and injuries.
