Belgian king says Situation in Gaza stain on all humanity
[21/ July/2025]
Brussels – Saba:

King Philippe of Belgium on Monday described the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip as “a stain on all of humanity.”

In his address on the eve of Belgium’s National Day, as reported by Belgian media outlets, King Philippe stated: “Civilians in Gaza are dying of hunger and bombardment. The current situation has dragged on for too long — it is a disgrace for all of humanity.”

“I join the voices condemning the grave humanitarian violations in Gaza, where innocent people are starving, falling victim to bombs, and suffocating in their besieged territory. The situation has persisted far too long and is a shame for humanity as a whole. We support the UN Secretary-General’s call to end this unbearable crisis immediately,” he added.

The king stressed the need for Europe to uphold human dignity by adhering to international law and human rights principles.

“For decades, international law has served as a cornerstone that nations could rely on. Today, it is being called into question. Yet when international law is violated, the entire world suffers — paving the way for instability and violence,” the King of Belgium continued.

Since October 7, 2023, and with U.S. and European support, the Israeli occupation forces have continued committing acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of 59,029 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom are women and children, and the injury of 142,135 others, according to the latest toll. Thousands more remain buried under rubble or stranded on roads, unreachable by emergency and rescue crews.
