Ibb Governorate held a commemorative event today marking the martyrdom of Imam Zayd bin Ali (peace be upon them), under the slogan “Insight and Jihad.”
During the event, Public Mobilization Official Abdel Fattah Ghallab spoke about the life of Imam Zayd, highlighting his piety, knowledge, struggle, and stance against tyranny and oppression.
Ghallab emphasized the importance of commemorating Imam Zayd’s martyrdom and drawing lessons of sacrifice, devotion, and resistance from his legacy. He pointed out that tyrants and oppressors have long sought to erase Imam Zayd from the memory of the Muslim nation.
He stressed that Imam Zayd was not affiliated with any particular sect or school of thought, but rather was firmly rooted in the Book of God. Ghallab affirmed the importance of reviving such religious occasions to follow in the footsteps of these great figures.
Meanwhile, the head of the Grievances Committee in the governorate, Yahya Al-Qasimi, said that Imam Zayd’s revolution aimed to correct serious deviations in the Muslim nation caused by the rule of the Umayyads, their consolidation of power, and oppression of the people. He discussed aspects of Zayd’s revolutionary movement against injustice, leading to his martyrdom, exhumation, and the gruesome act of severing his head to present it to the Umayyad ruler.
Al-Qasimi reviewed the key principles that formed the foundation of Imam Zayd’s uprising, which he described as a continuation of the revolution led by his grandfather, Imam Hussein (peace be upon them).
He concluded that the character of Imam Zayd stands as a model of sacrifice and courage in confronting injustice and tyranny.
