Dr. Radwan Al-Rabbai, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, discussed on Sunday with Major General Ali Hussein Al-Houthi, Undersecretary of Security and Intelligence at the Ministry of Interior, aspects of joint cooperation to combat the smuggling of agricultural products and agricultural production inputs.
During the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture emphasized the importance of integrated roles, coordination, and cooperation to address smuggling, which causes significant harm to local products and negatively impacts development plans, import management, and achieving self-sufficiency.
He stressed the need for strict measures and enhanced monitoring tools to protect the local market and boost national production.
Minister Al-Rabbai affirmed the ministry's commitment to strengthening cooperation with security agencies and other relevant entities to combat all forms of smuggling and safeguard domestic products.
For his part, the Undersecretary of Security and Intelligence at the Ministry of Interior expressed readiness to cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture in implementing anti-smuggling plans, intensifying efforts to apprehend smugglers, and enhancing joint coordination in this field to protect national resources.
