Sana’a - Saba:
Crowds of masses gathered on Sunday in a massive rally on Airport Street in the capital Sana'a to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Zaid bin Ali, peace be upon him, under the slogan “Insight and Jihad.”
Participants renewed their pledge to follow Imam Zaid’s path, drawing inspiration from his courage, sacrifices, and revolutionary stance against tyrants and oppressors. They affirmed their commitment to defending the oppressed, upholding sacred values, and confronting arrogance and injustice regardless of challenges or sacrifices.
The crowds reiterated Yemen’s steadfast and principled stance in support of Gaza and the Palestinian people and vowed to continue confronting the Israeli enemy until the aggression ends and the siege on Gaza is lifted.
They condemned the continued Arab and Islamic failure to support the Palestinian people, who face genocide, starvation, and blockade by the Israeli enemy regime with American and Western backing, as well as international and UN complicity.
The demonstrators emphasized that commemorating this occasion reflects the Yemeni people's deep connection to Imam Zaid and the Imams of guidance. It is a reaffirmation of their commitment to uphold the principles and values for which the Imams sacrificed, particularly the defense of Palestine and Islamic sanctities.
They stressed that this occasion is a key spiritual moment to draw lessons from Imam Zaid, known as the "Ally of the Qur’an," whose life exemplified courage, insight, jihad, and sacrifice in confronting tyranny—represented today by the U.S. and Israeli enemy.
The masses hailed Imam Zaid as a towering symbol of Islam and a leader of a great movement whose mission transcended time and place, aimed at rescuing the Ummah and correcting its course.
The protesters chanted powerful slogans of pride, defiance, and solidarity:
"Zaid, the voice of truth, shattered the silence of submission."
"Zaid rose to end corruption when virtue was replaced with vice."
"On Zaid's anniversary, escalation with Gaza is affirmed."
"Zaid’s revolution is a revolution of honor; today, Gaza is victorious through it."
"God’s Book forbids us from betraying Gaza – never, by Allah"
"Those who love life too much live humiliated by tyrants."
"Those who feared the sword lived in disgrace and fear."
The Crowds also chanted:
“Insight, insight… A nation, a leadership, a movement.”
“Gaza is hungry and calls upon you – Allah bears witness against you.”
“What is your position, O scholars? Children will be your opponents.”
“Gaza suffers more from betrayal than from the enemy.”
“True brothers of Gaza are committed to the path of dignity.”
“Jihad, jihad… Come to jihad!”
“O Gaza, we are with you—you are not alone.”
During the rally, Grand Mufti of Yemen, Shamsuddin Sharaf al-Din, praised the massive turnout, noting that honoring such religious occasions reflects respect for the values and principles brought by the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family.
He stressed that this painful yet profound anniversary offers important spiritual lessons—teaching dignity, perseverance, and the values enshrined in the Qur’an and the life of the Prophet.
“This commemoration is not about sectarianism or partisanship. Imam Zaid was an Imam for the entire Ummah, not just a particular group. He rose to uphold the Word of God at a time when the message of Muhammad had been abandoned by both close and distant followers,” the Mufti said.
Sharaf al-Din noted that just as Imam Hussain gave his life to revive the religion and set it back on course, Imam Zaid continued this divine mission by confronting the oppression and tyranny of the Umayyad rulers, whose corruption devastated the Ummah.
He pointed out that tyrants, past and present, show no concern for Muslim sanctities, nor do they care about offenses against the Prophet. Today’s rulers remain silent as Gaza endures massacres, revealing their submission and betrayal—contrary to the noble path of Ahl al-Bayt.
He affirmed that the Yemeni people, led by a steadfast and resilient revolutionary leadership, are standing firm against U.S. and Israeli aggression and their Western backers. This school of thought—of resistance, sacrifice, and courage—continues through their actions today.
The Mufti described Imam Zaid as the "Ally of the Qur’an," who lived its teachings in spirit, word, and deed.
Turning to the situation in Gaza, he condemned those who ignore the suffering of the people there. "Anyone who remains silent while Gaza starves and thirsts, without expressing support or sympathy, deserves the curse of God, His Messenger, the angels, and all people until the Day of Judgment."
Addressing scholars of the Muslim world, he said, “If the scholars of the Ummah stand up, the Ummah will rise. If leaders fail us, scholars must not.”
He urged religious scholars to fulfill their duty of inciting the people to jihad and aiding their brothers in Gaza, who cry out: “We are dying of hunger and thirst—our enemy kills us while you remain silent.”
Sharaf al-Din asked, “What will you say to Allah on the Day of Judgment? How will Al-Azhar’s scholars answer their God while remaining silent? How will the scholars of al-Haramain bear their responsibility as massacres unfold in Gaza with no word from them?”
He asserted that silence by scholars in the face of Gaza’s suffering is a betrayal of God and His Messenger. “The aggression of the Jews and Americans will not end unless scholars break their silence, lead this Ummah, and fulfill their responsibilities.”
Sharaf al-Din praised Yemen’s unwavering stance in support of Gaza since the beginning of Al-Aqsa Flood operation. “Since day one, the Yemeni people have stood by Gaza with words, deeds, funds, and even drones and missiles—thanks be to God.”
“This is the manifestation of wisdom and faith in its finest form—steadfastness and unwavering support until we meet God,” he added.
Sharaf al-Din criticized the inaction of the wider Muslim world in supporting Gaza, blaming the cowardice of Arab and Islamic leaders, who act like “sheep” before the Israeli enemy. “In Yemen, it’s different—the leader is a lion, and the people are lions. All are lions confronting the Zionist enemy.”
Addressing the people of Gaza, he said: “Be patient and steadfast. You are the symbol of honor, victory, and perseverance for this Ummah. The free people of the world draw inspiration from your courage.”
He called on the Yemeni people to continue their support for Gaza—through resilience, financial contributions, and backing missile and drone capabilities.
Sharaf al-Din also appealed to the free people of the world to escalate their actions in the coming days in support of Gaza, especially as the Palestinian people have called for urgent and effective intervention to stop the genocide perpetrated by the Zionist regime with unlimited U.S. and Western support.
He concluded with a powerful message to scholars and rulers: “Fear God and move to support Gaza. Fear none but Him—for He will hold you accountable. Rulers must also fulfill their responsibilities, for tomorrow the followers will disown their leaders.”
“This occasion,” he said, “is enough to restore the Ummah’s course, revive faith, reawaken the spirit of jihad and martyrdom, and reinforce the obligation to disavow the enemies of God.”
