Sana'a discusses measures to combat cholera outbreak

Sana'a - Saba:
A meeting in Sana'a Governorate on Saturday, chaired by First Deputy Governor Hameed Aasim, discussed measures to combat cholera and ways to intensify awareness campaigns to curb its spread.

The meeting, attended by the province's Works Officer, Engineer Mohammed Ashia, Director of Epidemiological Surveillance at the Health Office Dr. Hamoud Al-Sharaabi, and representatives from Civil Defense, the Red Crescent, and relevant offices, reviewed the steps taken by various sectors to address the epidemic.

It also addressed the measures implemented by concerned offices in the governorate to limit the spread of cholera, emphasizing the importance of banning vegetables irrigated with sewage water and other preventive actions to control disease outbreaks.

The meeting stressed the need to follow emergency procedures, enhance awareness efforts, and ensure all health facilities are prepared to receive cases. Additionally, it called for establishing a joint operations room between the governorate and districts to handle reported infections.

The session approved directing relevant offices to develop cholera response plans, with each entity submitting its plan promptly for review and integration into the governorate's overall strategy.

First Deputy Governor Hameed Aasim highlighted the importance of each sector understanding its assigned tasks, urging coordinated efforts and resource mobilization to enable effective responses.

He emphasized the need for collaboration between official and civil society organizations to combat cholera through intensified awareness campaigns across various media platforms.
