Wellbrock wins gold in 10km open water race at World Aquatics Championships

Germany’s Florian Wellbrock clinched the gold medal in the men’s 10-kilometer open water race on Wednesday at the World Aquatics Championships, currently underway in Singapore and set to continue through August 3.

Wellbrock finished the race with a time of 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 55.50 seconds, ahead of Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri by 3.70 seconds. Australia’s Kyle Lee claimed the bronze.

Wellbrock dominated the race from the start, maintaining the lead for most of the competition.

This marks his sixth world title in open water swimming, further solidifying his status as one of the sport’s top stars.

Singapore is hosting the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, which features multiple disciplines, including swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, and open water swimming.
