Al-Bayda – SABA:
Governor of Al-Bayda, Abdullah Idris, inspected ongoing efforts to clear war debris from the Thura Mountain Pass, which connects the Makiras and Lawdar areas, as part of a plan to reopen the route in one direction for travelers.
Accompanied by Abyan Deputy Governor Abdullah Al-Damani and Makiras District Director Yasser Juhlan, Idris received a briefing from technical teams on the removal of dirt barriers, repair of damaged bends and bridges caused by the war, and general road rehabilitation. The project is reportedly 95% complete.
Governor Idris emphasized that reopening the Thura Pass and other roads reflects directives from the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to alleviate the suffering of residents in both Al-Bayda and Abyan provinces.
He stated that clearing the war remnants is part of a broader initiative to reopen this key inter-provincial route, with the support of the “White Banner Team,” which is focused on facilitating humanitarian and logistical access.
Idris expressed hope that the opposing side would reciprocate this step, which ultimately serves civilians bearing the brunt of the blockade and road closures.
Makiras District Director Juhlan commended the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council for prioritizing road openings under current war and siege conditions. He also praised the role of military and local leaders, tribal elders from Makiras and Lawdar, and the White Banner Team for accomplishing this critical humanitarian task to ease travel and reduce hardship for wide population areas.
